Macaroni and Cheese for breakfast. Why not? Calorie-rich, full of carbs and easy to prepare.
MaryJane's Farm Chilimac has tons of positive reviews all over the net. Our feeling: not bad, but not great either. For how delicious Annie's Organic Macaroni and Cheese boxes are, MJF is surprisingly lackluster. This could be done so well, so easily- why is the cheese so flavorless and the texture so floury?
It's not bad, but not worth the price, either, when such a simple dish is so easy to put together with a base of Annie's Mac.
Organic Chilimac from MaryJane's Farm
Flavor, Nina: 6.5/10
Flavor, Dennis: 6.5/10
Ease at camp: 10/10
Price: $7.05 for Farmhouse (double) serving
Would buy again: No

Best for: lunch or breakfast, not big enough for two people for dinner.
Praise: good idea, pasta is a perfect texture. If you could swap out the MJF powder for Annie's cheese powder + chili seasoning, it could be great.
Criticism: floury, pasty, not very cheesy, not huge on the lentils, not enough chili seasoning, one dimensional.
Oh well! Still better than granola, I'd say, and definitely better than the smoothies. To its credit, Chilimac powered us through a relatively easy 6.5 mile exit to the trailhead. I wasn't even hungry until about 5 miles in.
