The smoothies are supposed to be amazing, fresh, and tart- doesn't hurt either that they're 35 grams of vegetarian protein apiece. Happy Hour Snack Pack is going to get pulled out on one of those celebratory first night dinners. Pizza Margherita Wrap and Potato Samosas are a trial run to evaluate how much better, really, freeze dried potatoes are than dried and how freeze dried cheese behaves when rehydrated.

As I understand it, Hawk Vittles is a one-man operation run by a former chef. Considering how many bad meals I've had at restaurants, that qualification alone doesn't carry much weight, but Hawk Vittles has a sizeable fanbase. Most of the dishes have a reputation for being portioned generously, slightly too sweet, and a little under-seasoned. Which makes sense, because he doesn't add salt: leaves it to the individual consumer to do so.

I chose the two highest-rated meals and the fry bread. I'm REALLY hoping these turn out. When it comes to having a pre-made backpacking meal, I'd strongly prefer the organic option.
